Azzedine Alaia Boutique, Paris
France, 2006
Marc Newson

Asked by his close friend, Azzedine Alaïa to design the shoe annex to his Paris boutique, Marc conceived a circle for the rear and side of the space, with cubbyholes in which the shoes would be displayed and a glass facade to the street. The column itself was turned into a pillar, acting as a circular bench for customers to sit upon while trying on shoes. All of the components, including the floor, were made of white Carrara marble, with the bench and cubbyholes upholstered in leather. —Marc Newson
